What is field archery

Field archery was developed in the USA so that bowhunters could practise shooting in the closed season.
Field archery is shot over undulating terrain at unmarked distances. The targets are usually flat bosses with paper faces of animals or 3D life size foam animals. The amount of targets to a course can vary, but are usually 36 or 40. Going around a field course is a bit like going around a golf course. Instead of moving from hole to hole, you move from target to target. Shots are taken from coloured pegs.Pegs are shot in order of red, white and blue. If you score from a peg you do not shoot from the next peg. Targets are divided into kill and wound zones.
